I just found these tiny ants near my rabbit hutches. It has rained and the sun had come out and I saw the shimmer of wings on the ground. I actually found 3, each about 6 feet apart. My phone takes really bad shots but this ant is only maybe 4-5 mm if that. Pheidole?? Suggestions on which one? One has dropped wings since she was in the tube. Thx for any wisdom shared.

Ok now that I have really tried to see these I have found that there are 2 in each tube. Here are some pix. I tried to get better ones. This phone is just not gonna focus on them.

So are they in breeding mode or are these just getting booted out of the nests? I didn't see them on the flight list for North America. Sorry for the ignorance, I am a new ant keeper, and have mostly got Camponotus.

Lasius usually start flying around this time, so they could very well be having their nuptial flight.
