1. Location (on a map) of collection: mead colorado
2. Date of collection: 8-9-22
3. Habitat of collection: plains/industrial cluster
4. Length (from head to gaster):
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: refractive golden gaster, distinct ridge(s?) of hairs on gaster, rest of body is brownish
6. Distinguishing characteristics: see above

I’ve been keeping ants for 2 years and never bothered to look up pics of neoniger… I always assumed it was a black species.. today I learned lol

Yes looks to be too orange For L. Neoniger.
Maybe the orangish tint is like a morph of L. Neoniger?

Is it just me that likes the look of ant brood? It just reminds of you how well an ant colony is doing.
