Had no rain in the last 10 days, they must have been impatient.

 

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Northern Illinois
2. Date of collection: 7/4/2022
3. Habitat of collection: Suburban sidewalk
4. Length (from head to gaster): 10 - 12mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Quite red on the thorax
6. Distinguishing characteristics: 
7. Distinguishing behavior:
8. Nest description: 

9. Nuptial flight time and date: Found queen dealate running on the sidewalk at 10:00 am.
