I caught three of these girls today, 3 pm in the sun on the sidewalk.  One had a spider chasing her.

Looks like Solenopsis invicta, but I will leave it up to the more experienced ID’ers

Size in mm?

4 mm, maybe a little more.

The second pic was the best I could get.  I found two more later, and while I had them in the same container they did not appear to like each other.

That definitely looks like solenopsis invicta. There is a chance it could be solenopsis richteri, but we would need better lighting in the photos.

The size though… I have never seen an invicta queen that small, or under 7.5mm

They may be bigger than I thought.  Does this help?

That’s definitely solenopsis invicta. The lighting and size confirms it.
