Yesterday I caught what I believe is a camponotus Pennsylvanicus queen and put her in a test tube setup. I will post again next week when I will check up on her. Anting season in Utah has begun. If anyone has any questions let me know.

Camponotus pennsylvanicus isn’t found in Utah. Can you take some pictures so we can get you a proper ID?

Its definitely not pennsylvanicus. It is likely camponotus laevissimus or laevigatus, which are both western camponotus species found in Utah.

It's time for me to check on my queen ant. She has laid four eggs and is constantly looking after them.
I will get pictures as soon as I can.

Tip: add your username to the title of your journal to differentiate it from the dozens of other pennsylvanicus journals on here.
