When I come back from my vacation, I will make this an Ant journal not just my Myrmentoma subgenus Camponotus.

My current species are:

Brachymyrmex patagonicus  :D

Myrmentoma Camponotus.

Tetramorium immigrans x2  :o

Vermessor paregandei  :yahoo:

Camponotus sansabeanus  :)

Pheidole californica :yahoo:

Liomeptum occidentale (y)

More to come soon? Thank you to the people who have taken the time to read my mediocre journal. :]

Bad bad news... Lios DELETED Brachys IN HEAVEN Tetras LOOKING DOWN AT US. Argies killed them... oh and pheidole... gone...

Myrmentoma: fine 3 alates, the supermajors seem to boss them around. Whenever the Alates try to go out to the outworld, there is always a supermajor to put them there place. The alates are smaller than the queens though, as I wasn't Power Feeding since my sister was taking care of 'em.

Still 4 queens and new egg batches every 2 days. Always hungry as usual, still eating 3 Mealworms and fruit flies with ease and hollow them out. And go throw a whole sugar water test tube in a day. No pics sorry.

I only have 3 colonies now 2 Camponotus and veromessor....

Vermessor pargandei:

I moved them into a THA Mini Hearth, around 25 workers Mild pile of brood of all stages and queen doing fine. They seem to be not picky at all with seed hollowed a Pistachio and kentucky blue grass seeds, I have high hopes for this colony. No pics sorry.

Camponotus sansabeanus:

1 physogastric queen and 2 Nanitics and good pile of brood. These guys are not shy, even though only having 2 workers and queen likes to eat food by herself.

Just in a test tube only around 3 months(?) old,.. No pics sorry.

I will up size my collections soon hopefully, I will go anting in a couple places. Crazy to think in 2 months anting season will be wrapping up.

Thanks for reading! :3

Here are some pictures taken with a Canon EOS M50 Mark ii:

The Alate I was talking about.

IMG_0079.JPG

Camponotus sansabeanus(?)

IMG_0083.JPG

THA Mini Hearth with Veromessor inside.

Check- in with the ants-

Myrmentomma:

Same as usual, eating alot and pushing out lot of eggs.

They also have been making mountains of fruit flies after a hunt.

It seems like when ever a larvae is hungry they take one and give it to them...

I wonder why they don't regurgitate it via Trophilaxis? Any idea why?

Camponotus sansabeanus:

2 dark Cocoons(!) and large brood piles. They LOVE honey and eat a whole mealworm in a day, despite being such a small colony.

I love these guys very confident yet small.

Veromessor paregandei:

Good sized brood pile and seed pile.

Their favorite is pistachio and flax seeds.

They eat fruit flies kinda hesitantly.

And that is about it, thanks for reading :bye:

-Check-in-With-The-Ants-

Camponotus sansabeanus

Size: 2 workers 8 Large larvae 3 Cocoons

I'm am not trying to support Puffy Exoskeleton'd shaming but....

The queen is too Puffy Exoskeleton'd to fit through a Mini Hearth tube....

I tried to move them, until I noticed that her Gaster was wider than the tube.

I want to name her something since she has a great personality, she looks at the toothpick when I place honey in the test tube, she eats food herself, and she actually takes on the task of main attacker towards fruit flies! What should I name her guys? I know this is some 2018-2022 AC stuff but I want to name my favorite queen you know?

No pictures sorry!

*NEW ADDITION ALERT* Myrmecocystus testaceus

Size: 11 workers Lots of larvae

I got these gals from drew. Thanks Drew!

20220722_173859.jpg

Myrmentoma

Size: 100-200ish workers LOTS OF BROOD

I really do not have anything important so yeah.

Veromessor paregandei

Size: 23 workers Some brood

Nothing to crazy to talk about....

Thanks guys for reading my journal! Bye! (y)

So, um, hey? I know I went almost inactive for a second there, but I'm back, I guess. I've been way more focused on school and Isopod projects but hey, ants keep reeling me back in. Because of stupid Argies, I'm back down to three colonies. Which I will give thorough updates in regard to. Enough stalling lemme put some work in.

Myrmentoma sp.:
This colony scared me, as they had a humongous die off. Which was caused because of 2 queens dying. With one shriveled queen left I had little hope. Then I made a shocking discovery.(I know this sounds like some AC type stuff) I saw a young female alate mating with a male alate.  From the same colony! Yes, you read this right. I can't actually prove it, you just have to believe me here. Any ideas how and why this happened? At this point I thought someone spiked my Hawaiian Punch. After close observation that alate was being treated as a functioning queen. Aswell as a worker. She was carrying deceased workers to the graveyard! After that they made a come back no alates sure, but still seeing majors and bunches of eggs again! This all happened in a span of 1-2 months. They've been doing well ever since. Even with my namesake of being lazy! No pictures for now sorry!

Myrmecocystus mexicanus:

Got these from Jeff, and they've been my best attempt at pots, not a picture perfect but 3 workers and a replete strong! Queen is crazy feisty and loves Red drinks for some reason. I've noticed the workers almost hold back the queen when she gets angry. Example, fruit fly in, queen goes ballistic, 1 worker tugs at her leg, other 2 go fetch dinner. This is so cool to watch. That's about it for them. Name suggestions?:D

Camponotus sansabeanus:

1 word: Average. They just act normal. Eat, grow, repeat. I've had them for about 4 months and no major growth though they do have 12 workers and nice pile of brood!

What you guys think about the Myrmentoma situation?
