I started this thread just to share my terrors of some practice advice my violin teacher gave me but if you have a terrifying Practice Advice story of someway your teacher told you to practice and it's not a string instruments feel free to share! All instruments are welcome. I boldly believe violin and cello are the best instruments.

So, my story is from not too long ago when my teacher after I played part of Rieding, Oskar Concertino op.21 in A minor they told me to try playing the beginning of the piece again, but with me holding onto the tip rather than the frog. I was terrified thinking of getting oil from my fingers on my bow as since anyone who is a string instrument player knows that getting the oil from your hands onto the bow is no bueno since the rosin now has the oil that part of the bow will emit barely any sound now because the only way to get the violin to make sound is by making sure the bow has rosin on it. So, after struggling through the whole thing, and getting my fingers on the bow hair at times, it was over with a massive sense of relief coming over me. And I thought it was over as probably most people might think. Unless the teacher pulls a wildcard on you and assigns it for you practice homework. And so that's my long and boring story of the most terrifying practice I had to do in my life. And hopefully I'll never have to get my fingers that close to the bow hair... ever. Again.

Violin supremacy?????  I don't know how to play violin, but I absolutely simp stringed orchestral instruments, the best instruments in my opinion.
