Are you allowed to take your ants with you if you move to another state? I eventually plan on moving to New Mexico, where Rugosus is native, and they are the closest thing to p. badius in that area I believe, as far as having bi/polymorphic (i think rugosis are bimorphic?) workers and I think they might be close in size.

Anyway, I can't get a badius colony cause I don't wanna get a colony I can't move there. However, I'm not moving for quite some time so even if I can't bring them, its gonna be YEARS so I may be able to sell or rehome them to a local anter.

Edit: Random statement, your comment about the badius is so right on.. When I first got into ants, I assumed "pheidole", or BHA, was a term for them cause they had the biggest heads I've seen on workers (I havent seen many large species in person yet sadly.. Those and some different carpenter variants and a few others like cow killers, etc)

Florida to New Mexico. Pretty sure that's a negative sir.

If you don't build your dream, someone else will hire you to help them build theirs.

Update? Are these guys out of hibernation?

Unfortunately, I had most of my colonies die out on me during my winter break vacation. The only colonies that I have left are my Pogonomyrmex rugosus and Acromyrmex versicolor. I'll be giving them some new formicariums soon though, so I may be uploading some pictures of them soon. I also have a Lasius crypticus queen with a worker, so that'll be included too.

Wishlist ants I hope to get someday:

     - Camponotus yogi

     - Formica subpolita

     - Novomessor cockerelli

     - Pheidole hyatti / desertorum / vistana (aka any of the big ones)

     - Lasius sp. (parasitic)

     - Strumigenys membranifera

     - Stigmatomma pallipes

Check out my journal and shop!
