This will be my first antkeeping journal! The species I'm starting with are in the signature section of my profile. I can upload some pics when I get home, but just a little heads up, my camera quality will be kinda trashy. Might have to get a better cam someday...

I think the species I'll update the most on will be P. rugosus and T. immigrans, the M. mimicus dud is hardly worth mentioning. Any name suggestions will be gratefully appreciated!

I caught them a couple weeks ago, so they haven't laid any eggs yet. I'm guessing workers will arrive sometime in May-June...

I caught them a couple weeks ago, so they haven't laid any eggs yet. I'm guessing workers will arrive sometime in May-June...

bruh they aint even active here yet... you got black morph.? what color variation you get

dang those prenos look really juicy!!! did you feed them? you got some nice colonies!!!

I literally gave them nothing haha, they just kept drinking water from the cotton in their test tube until they became extremely physogastric...

The Tetras' test tube is pretty blurred up because of the remains of dry food on the glass, so I might have to transfer them to a cleaner one to get better pics.

The same thing happened with me when my Prenolepis queens were founding.

How long do they usually get to workers? I'm guessing that at least two of them are fertile (or should be), since they're so physogastric.

For me it was two months to get from egg to worker. Although it is a lot colder in Canada than California so I don't know how long it will take yours to get workers.

 

Interesting, I think they grow faster in colder climates since they go into diapause in warmer summer months. Some other people in CA claim they take up to 100 days to get to workers, probably since it's warmer in California than Canada...
