Hey, I'm a Korean dude who studies music tech in Cali.

I got interested in ants while I was doing an assignment in eco-acoustics class last semester.

Later I want to build some audio-visual art installation with ants.

I'm such a newbie when it comes to ants, but I watched several documentaries on youtube and currently reading some books about ants.

I also want to start ant keeping from upcoming January!

Welcome to the forum!  The ant season here in California can start as early as February, so if you're willing to wait another month you could even try to catch some of your own ants.

Hey, I'm also located in cali. I've been super interested in ants since I was a kid but only in the past three years or so figured out that there's a whole world of ant keeping, and I've been trying to start a colony ever since (with a few unsuccessful carpenter ant queens, and accidentally capturing a termite queen lol). Good to meet you bro.

People in SoCal are in easy driving distance to a lot of awesome ants, like honeypots, one species of leafcutter, and all sorts of other desert ants that don't need diapause. You're in a great place to get started, and the Cali community is loud and active. (Though granted, a sizeable number are still in school so they are fairly quiet right now.)
