Has anyone kept any Brachymyrmex sp.? I believe my specific species is Brachymyrmex obscurior. I have had this queen in a test tube setup currently going on 10 weeks now and she has some eggs and what I think are some pupae with no workers. I attempted to feed her around a month in a believe and she wasn't interested so I haven't attempted since. Is this on schedule for this species? I had a queen RIFA I had found which had workers appear about a month in  and I'm new to ant keeping is the reason I'm asking. Thanks

I have never kept this genus, but I believe I have heard they grow fairly slowly. Also, RIFA grow much faster than most ants. If you aren’t heating the Brachymyrmex I recommend you do.

I have a heating coil sort going in a u- shape around the test tube but about 4 inches away from it in hopes to create a sort of ambient temperature. Funny enough, the first nanitic hatched sometime today and I just saw it this morning. Maybe I'll take a picture once more eclose but its so incredibly small it won't be a very good one  :D  :D  :D
