1. Location (on a map) of collection: Sydney, Australia
2. Date of collection: Around early September? I forgot the exact date, sorry.
3. Habitat of collection: Large nuptial flight happening around a gum tree.
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~5mm (not 50 XD)
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black. Yeah that's pretty much it. :/
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Very stretched gaster.
7. Distinguishing behavior: Often used to curl up into a ball when disturbed. Maybe I was actually seeing her laying an egg, she has a lot of them.
8. Nest description: N/A

9. Nuptial flight time and date: Early September, probably around midday.

Can't tell anything with these images. Also, I doubt this specimen is over an inch long.

Look at the antennal club to see if it has 2 clubs, then it is Solenopsis. If not, then it is probably Monomorium or Chelaner.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

OhhhhhhHHH I am so stupid I meant 5mm-

How embarassing.

Yeah sorry the photos are bad... I don't have a very good camera...

I'm having a look at her antennae but she's not really in a good position for me to see them. Thanks for the info though.
