I went out acting today to find some lasius workers since I couldn't find brood for my parasite queen wondering if this is lasius and If I can use them. Didn't mean to catch the elates and will let them go back to the nest.
Date of collection: September 7
Habitat of collection: under wood
Length (from head to gaster): 1/4 for workers and 3/8 for the elates
Color, hue, pattern and texture: yellow workers and brown queens
Distinguishing characteristics: yellow workers
Nest description: under a log in the soil

those workers appear to be lasius americanus. This is an ideal host species, and is a much better host than the yellow (parasitic lasius) workers.
