Wow I think this colony is larger than the six-year-old colony I have living in that giant vase dirt setup.

When you start to pass Dspdrew it gets pretty impressive

Quick question, how do you go about moving repletes? Do you have to use Q-tips to pick them up and move them before the rest of the colony has access to the interior of the nest?

Quick question, how do you go about moving repletes? Do you have to use Q-tips to pick them up and move them before the rest of the colony has access to the interior of the nest?


My son and I used these featherweight forceps to grab the repletes by their legs or body (actually anywhere but their gasters):

And yes, while he was gently placing them into the new nest, I was frantically vacuuming the workers and dumping them into the outworld. We placed the new nest upside down while transferring the repletes so they would be attaching themselves to the ceiling. All holes were plugged out to minimize escapes.
