I was thinking of feeding my Camponotus Novaeboracensis colony chicken from Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup. Is it safe for them?

Ehh. My concern would be too much sodium. Also, giving ants seasoned anything is never a good idea.

If you are dead-set on feeding them this chicken though, wash it thoroughly.

I will sometimes feed my ant colonies some from a rotisserie chicken (after its been washed) if there are any scraps left.

Yes I have had this experience. You sit down to a nice bowl of Campbell’s soup (are you in the frozen north somewhere having hot soup in July?), and you see those tiny chicken morsels and think: why, those are ant sized portions!

As he said above, give them a good rinse under the tap and break them up smaller. Garnish with a fruit fly and serve a la carte. Pairs well with a full bodied red hummingbird nectar.

My own experience- my C vicinus loved it and C quercicola ignored it. Meats get gross so be sure to use a plate and remove what’s left within a day.
