Maybe digging to find a spot with the right moisture and humidity. Make sure part of the nesting grounds are wet enough. Don't let all of it dry up. Good luck.

You know, I'm thinking now that maybe desert sand alone may not be a tough enough substrate if its just top sand. Not real dirt and clay soil that's below desert sand in itself. Plain desert sand will collapse when it dries out. So look into that when you take her into an outworld or dirt setup next time. Keep it moist and some heat. Glad you found her. Keep her fed. Watered and a supply of some sugars, then you will be good. Kentucky Bluegrass seed was a good seed for some of the founding queens I had in the past. But you might want to try other seeds too. One 2 queen colony loved sunflower seed kernels. I crushed them up for them of course. Again, good luck. But don't keep her in a test tube only. Use a tub and tube method. She needs to eat in founding stage. Until she has workers to gather for her, she will be the one looking for food, water and sugars daily.
