it should be really easy to find ants in florida. I was there for a couple days last week and I caught 10 queens in two days without even trying

Dude if nobody is selling just go look for queens yourself. Flip stones, look on the sidewalk or buy a blacklight. Its super easy.

From my understanding, you should at least be able to find something on a blacklight... Pretty sure Pheidole fly all summer long over there.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Place the blacklight on top of a large white sheet and it should attract night flying insects; hopefully some of which will be queens.

night flying alates get attracted to them and fly to them
