1. Location of collection: Newark, Delaware at the edge of a parking lot, near a large open meadow with forests nearby

2. Date of collection: 6-20-2021
3. Habitat of collection:  open meadow, sparse woodland
4. Length: N/A; did not measure prior to my friend taking it home; I'd guess about 5 mm based on other specimens I have that were measured
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: reddish brown
6. Distinguishing characteristics: "wide eyed" Lasius-like head
7. Anything else distinctive: one red mite on her abdomen (see photos)
8. Nest description: N/A

9. Nuptial flight time and date: sometime in June?

Not necessary for this post, but while you're here: does anyone have any tips on getting that mite removed?

I've heard lemon juice might work, but I haven't researched it too much yet.

Parasitic lasius, possibly speculiventris considering flight time. She will need lasius host workers in order to start her colony.
