Pogonomyrmex californicus. C. maricopa is generally not a coastal sp.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

that's what I thought, I caught a Maricopa in Moreno Valley a few weeks back and she kind of resembles this queen.

The coloration isn't that dark, its the time I took the picture. The abdomen is an orangish red. No Propodeal spines.

Yea probably just californicus. I was really hoping that I could get some maricopa. How many did you get? Would you consider selling them

I did, I really don't know. I mean they have the black stripe that Maricopa have, but they have all tolerated each other in the same test tube, and they have started to lay eggs together.

I only caught 4, when their main flight happens I'll catch as many as possible and sell them. I just looked at a picture of a Concolor and they have a stripe to.
