Hello everyone and welcome to C. Modoc journal! to start off i caught this queen about 3 weeks ago. straight of the bat i was ecstatic because i've always wanted C. Modoc but just never had luck founding them in the past. when i found her i was in the Colombia river gorge and she still had her wings and she didn't drop them for 3 days later when i got home. i set her down to go make a test tube and when i came back about 10 minutes later she has pulled of her wings and had 2 eggs. keep in mind that she was in the light just in a little collection container. anyway fast forward about a week and she has a nice healthy egg pile. 2 weeks after that and she finally has larva! yip yip hooray!!

Here is a nice little pic of her tending to her eggs and larva

Go to the first post of the thread, click edit, and select use full editor. Fix the spelling of modoc in the title.

"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

I'm going on a trip for 10 days and am leaving this Saturday so i am a little concerned on if workers arrive before i get back. what should i do? should i just give her a small amount on honey and a cricket leg and call it good for the trip or should i just leave them?

also i have no idea why all my pics are upside down and i can't seem to fix it =/

Okay so it’s been a very very long time since I have updated. In the last couple of months the colony has grown quite a bit and I now have 35 workers and 2 small majors. I’ll post some pics when I get home.
