I caught a queen near my backyard light. Idk the genus at all.I am two hours up north of the Bay Area.

I think its Nylanderia

I wanna say so to but i have the spe and my current colony if from my area. This queen looks way different in colors then my others and slightly different shapes

it was caught around 10pm 90 degrees out

Nylanderia for sure. Nylanderia come in may colors including black, brown, yellow and mixes of black and brown. Try and examine the shape of the head. Nylanderia species have a one of a kind head that is easily recognized.

Young ant keeper with a decent amount of knowledge on local ant species.

Currently kept ant species, favorites have a star in front of their names (NOT in alphabetical order, also may be outdated sometimes): ★ Camponotus irritans inferior, ★ Ooceraea biroi, Pheidole parva, ★ Nylanderia sp., ★ Paraparatrechina tapinomoides, Platythyrea sp., Anochetus sp., Colobopsis sp. (cylindrica group), ★ Crematogaster ferrarii, Polyrhachis (Myrma) cf. pruinosa, Polyrhachis (Cyrtomyrma) laevissima, Tapinoma sp. (formerly Zatapinoma)

Death count: Probably over a hundred individual queens and colonies by now. I cannot recall whatsoever.

Wow i did not know that. there's this massive colony in my front yard that has been moving for weeks and there are always queens there. There all black. I've only seen all black queens and never the oranges brownish and black one i caught. She died the next morning also sadly.
