I have a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Queen in a test tube. Today I went to check on it, and then finaly relized what seemed of about the test tube. The test tube was much smaller that the ones that I am using for other queens. I have no more test tubes left to transfer my queen to. I can't buy anymore either. I know I could use vinyl tubing, but I don't have any of that unless I pull it off of my other ants formicariums and stuff. Any suggestions on what to use?

She’s probably totally fine in a smaller tube. Just leave her be. The claustral chambers this species dig are actually quite small.

So long as the queen is able to turn around easily, I don't see what a big problem too small a test tube could be. And considering when you first had her in it you didn't notice its small size I think it's perfectly fine as it is.

My Camponotus queens do that even in larger test tubes. She'll be fine.

If you look at claustral chambers this species digs in wood, there is almost no turning room.

Doesn't every queen, except like, army ants ones where the queens cannot move while laying, do that?

oh ok, thanks, that's a relief to know, I thought I'd have to say goodbye and let her go into the wild. And, yes I guess but I'm kind of like an overthinker.

You'll need at least one more in the longer term for when the tubes run dry and you have to move them to a new one, so worth looking into getting one so you're ready for that.

I have bought from these test tubes from this seller lots of times, and have never received any broken tubes. The brush it comes with lets you clean them very easily, so you can re-use them over and over. Here's the link: Glass Test Tubes

 

You can find a larger pack for the same price, but you will probably get a bunch of broken tubes. (Trust me, I know from experience)
