Yesterday, i was poking around my grandparents backyard which inhabits a huge tetra colony which i discovered last year, and its been dead end after dead end. But yester day I found a Ponera worker but lost it and then lifted up the corner of a piece of weed blocker, tetras came swarming out, I lifted it up more and saw something that looked like a beetle grub but then realized it was a very physogastric queen, picked her up and put her in a container with around 10 workers and about 200 workers in another container sadly the container with like 200 workers in it had holes in it, lots of them escaped. I had a AC test-tube portal, so I used that. They are now in there with 2 isopods, 1 baby grass-hopper and some honey for food. and they have alate larvae. and yes I know AC products aren't the highest quality but I don't have any other formicaria that aren't home-made and haven't been tested,

If you can afford it, a THA bifurcated mini hearth would be perfect for them. Anyways, it's exciting to have a new colony at least!

You'd probably be better off then with something like a fortress with the "small" species selection.

Get a big tub lined with fluon and give them multiple tubes to nest in. Line the tub with a thin layer of dry sand.

ok good news some of the colonies are thriving bad news some have died out 2 have died and in one all of the workers have been lost leaving a queen but my favorite colony belonging to Queen Steak has 6 biological workers and 3 boosted workers with plenty of bio brood and plenty of boosted brood :)

2 colonies left. One with 5 or 6 queens, and Queen Steak who has 7 workers. I really suck at antkeeping

I brood boosted Queen Steak a few months back because she wasnt doing so well and it was a success and now they are thriving in a minihearth. I also have caught some new queens this year and 2 already have workers.
