I bought 3 camponotus sansabeanus queens from drew on Saturday. They have no worker and are in test tubes. They laid several eggs while driving home and from the last time I checked, queen #1 had 4 eggs, queen #2 had 2 eggs, and queen #3 had 4 eggs. I will provide photos soon.

I love sansabeanus and they happen to be my first ant I’ve ever kept. You’ll have fun with them. I have one queen I caught at Whitney a month Bach and she has at least 15 eggs and about 5 larvae. So excited to see this journal blossom. Good luck!

Currently: Considering moving to Australia

One of these queens have died but the others look healthy. And I think I see larva in one of the tubes.

I'm not sure what happened between now and the last time I updated this journal, the last queen has 7 workers now, with 2 larvae, and egg batch, and a cocoon. the 7th worker eclosed yesterday. They are housed in a mini hearth

9 workers now. Several cocoons. The queen has been good on brood production. I think only 1 worker has died so far, but i last counted 3 cocoons, 4 or 5 larva and an egg batch.
