So today there was a big nuptial flight of Prenolepis imparis in my yard today...... and I caught 7 queens!!! :yahoo: I am so excited! 2 of the queens i caught don't have wings and were seen with the males attched to their gasters, so they are fertile. I have 5 others that have wings and I'm not so sure they are fertile. I am excited as I always wanted this species. I will update when they have eggs.

Well that was quick. 1 of the queens in my group of queens (3rd picture) has laid a few eggs. The 2 solo fertile queens still didn't lay, but I have hopes for them.

I have a 4 queens in a tube that I am trying to see if they will lay. 1 of the fertile queens are in there, but I don't know which one. They didn't lay yet though. I have a solo fertile queen that layed.

It will probably take longer than 2 weeks. I think it can take up to 2 months to get workers with these guys.

Check them once a week, not once an hour.

Check them once a week, not once an hour.

agreed. That will stress them and cause them to eat their eggs, if not die.

ok. I was just checking up on some of my other ants so I decided to check on them one more time for the day. I'll check again in like 1 or 2 weeks.

All of my 5 queens have at least 5 eggs. I'm leaving them alone for a while and hopefully in about a month they will have workers  :D

Still waiting on eggs from mine. I'm wondering if I should heat them a little.
