Seeing your colony grow so big, so fast makes me dissapointed all over again about the time when I lost my Tetramorium queen due to some stupid Monomorium Pharaonis.hmph :ugone2far: :ugone2far:

Been keeping ants since January of 2021

Always try new things, even if its hard, hard is not impossible. We are smart and it's good to be smart but not too smart for your own good.

Suddenly, Tetramorium seems much more interesting!  Luckily flights will still be going on in two weeks so I will definitely be looking for some queens

Same, I caught some T. immigrans the other day and am looking forward to keeping them

A lot of people don't like these girls for a variety of reasons.

Someone spent 20 minutes explaining why I don't want to use them in my classroom ... but I think these girls are fantastic.

They spoil me for my other ants though, they just out preform everyone.

Haters gonna hate. There’s nothing wrong with Tetramorium, but they can be a handful when the colony gets really huge. At a certain point, I’d recommend actively limiting their growth rate.

Like removing from heat and reducing protein?

Yes, something along those lines.

Sorry!

School this year has been absolutely insane and I've been unable to do much updating. I ended up moving the girls to a Casita. It was too big so I stuffed half of it with cotton to keep them on one side and it's working out really well.

The only issue is I have a hard time telling how much water is in the water tank. I keep over filling it and it floods a little.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow. I cannot even see the queen anymore, she's totally protected by her workers.

The amount of brood is amazing.

I really love watching these girls but they sometimes look like a massive mass of black swirls, limbs and shiny heads moving around.
