Hi. Sooo on my pheidole journal (I still need to upload better pics with it) a few people are convinced that my speices isn't pheidole tyoni, because that's what I thought it was. I recently went down to tennessee and saw pheidole tysoni, so that's why I thought the speices I had here was tysoni, but I live in MA. And they have 3 queens. The workers and queens are a goldish color. Like tysoni. but the other features not match, like having more then 1 queen. And being up north. Any ideas what they could be? The queens barely would fit on my pinky fingernail, and the workers are 1/4 size of that (so they are very small). I will try to catch a worker from them and take pictures of it. I also have a microscope for ID so I will try my best to find out what the spieces is(if its not pheidole). I am sure its a type of pheidole tho because they have majors.

There's no way to be sure without pictures, a measurement (in millimeters) and a location/habitat of collection. At this point all we know is its Formicidae.

By my understanding of what they look like, small, native to MA, brownish/ goldish, and polygenous, they are for sure the theif ant. I will still include pics if you want to make a final ID for the ant, I will. I don't know how I got the ID wrong of it. I must've mistaken it with tysoni when I was looking for the ID of it.

Please add pictures. Best bet for a confirmed ID of the ant. I checked your journal of these ants, if they have 60-80 workers they should have majors. Do they? Am also not sure if tysoni is poly.

yes. it may be solenopsis molesta, but you could have something else and if you think of it as solenopsis molesta you might mess up with their care. Please post some pictures if possible.

Ants I am keeping:

none for now, planning on being more active this year
