Hello,
I found these 2 species today while looking around. I believe both to be queens, however I am a new novice at this. I am located in Georgia US and would like to know 1) are either of these queens, and 2) what species are they.
Thanks in advance.

1. Linepithema humile

2. Prenolepis imparis

I'm assuming you found the linepithema in a colony, as they don’t have normal nuptial flights. If so, i would get her some workers, as queens from established colonies can’t found on their own again. They won’t fight though as all linepithema accept each other, as they are a supercolony. The prenolepis on the other hand should be left alone as she is fully claustral, however you can check every week or two.

Thank you Manitobant,
Yes I found the linepithema after my wife ran over a small mound with our baby stroller. I thank you for educating me.

although this can work, Linepithema humile are horrible invasives, so I would kill them.

Ants I am keeping:

he’s probably a new keeper, so i would recommend him keep them, as they’re a very good beginner species despite being invasive.

Killing 1 queen won't do anything to their population.
