Cataglyphis sp. Either that or Proformica.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
sorry I put wrong picture... renew already ..

I don't necessarily need location, but I need sizes and better pictures of the face.
Also, if you put the information in the format that is pinned at the top of the Ant ID Request thread, it makes information easy to access for everyone.

ID is not always based off of color. I have seen records of mexicanus having more dark color abdomens
understand, then I agree with you...

This is most likely M. mexicanus, but giving as much information as possible for an ID request helps a lot.
This is definitely Myrmecocystus, maybe mexicanus. However specific Id will be impossible from pictures no matter what anyone says.
You need the measurement of the queen. Both m. Mexicanus and Navajos are yellow. They actually looked like Navajos to me because the repletes are smaller. Mexicanus repletes are relatively huge!

Replete size is far too variable, esp. in captivity for such a feature to be useful in making a species identification. The only way to get a species identification would be to mount a specimen or two or three and compare the with accurately identified material.
