So I have a male ghost mantis right now, and he is about 2/3 of the way to becoming an adult. If I mated him, and get a bunch of nymphs(like 50) would anyone buy them?

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about getting a mantis of my mom let’s me so if this actually happens I’ll think about it.

I looked for a mantis for a while but haven't found good ones.  I'd at least be interested.

for both of you, i'm sorry to say you might need a ppq526 permit for them. but, there are some very good online shops out there, and you can try looking for one.

also, the exact species I have is Phyllocrania Paradoxa, and If I happen to breed them, which I will probably, I will make a post. probably in 2-3 months though.

Is that mantis regulation even still in place? Mantises are being shipping across US state borders just fine. I've not seen a single person selling mantises who says they'll ship in state only. Where is the regulation that says exotic mantises can't be shipped across state lines? There are tons of sellers and very well known shops which are selling them and I don't think all of those shops are breaking laws or whatever.

It doesn't say anything about mantids being illegal to ship when you google it. Although are they "Exotics"

I'll be honest though, the government doesn't really regulate this law much. But, I have heard about people getting fines.

I'm on a mantid forum, and this topic has been discussed. No one, to the best of their knowledge, has been fined for this lol

It's almost like the restrictions on ants apply to nearly every other form of invertebrate, just that those hobbies' communities don't care, don't report other members of their community, and nobody gets fined or in trouble in any ways since the laws are hardly enforced at all

Just think: Isopods are also illegal to transport between state lines; I know that for a fact. Yet how many isopod keepers have you seen get called out for having exotic species or even selling across the country? Yeah, I'll wait.

I really don't want to turn this into another illegal trade thread, but it's just really funny watching the antkeeping community STILL making a big deal about this stuff.

Its ¨bad¨ to keep tarantulas or other exotics in pet places but yet i've seen no one enforce that, also ghost mantids are being sold all throughout california already.

1. yes its bad that the law's there but nobody enforces the law because all the keepers are in an uncomfortable position knowing that its illegal but nobody cares.

2. I know that ghost mantids are being sold throughout california, but I also want to sell and breed them.

I would say sell them especially since you are going to possibly have a lot, I may like one since their life span and size is quite short and small since I need shelf room for this years anting season. Also I'm pretty sure swirly is excited about this.
