Hello to all from Louisiana. I am a beginner who has always had interest in wanting an “ant farm” since I was a child. Well now maybe I’ve hit a mid life crisis because I’ve been researching and slowly and impatiently waiting to get my first colony. Glad to be here and surrounded by the knowledge that this forum brings. Happy New Years

Welcome! The only thing currently flying now is solenopsis invicta (fire ants) and there aren't many antkeepers in Louisiana sadly so id focus on finding one of those unless you want to wait a few months for other species.
