Uh hate to break it to you guys, but venus flytraps actually go dormant in winter, so they are not useful for winter doldrums.

Many carnivorous plants have a winter dormancy. As with ants, the ones that don't are likely from tropical areas and elevations.

This is very true and most people think they are dead so they throw them away.

yes i actually threw mine away last last year, but this year i kept them, and then in spring they actually had flowers lol
