I found this great video in which the guy explains how to make holes in glass. Maybe some of you (especially located in the US) could make use of it for their outworld and nests:

i am very much into making formicariums, and i am actually making a formicarium that will need holes drilled in glass. i will watch this as soon as i can. thanks!

that's funny. My dad did a similar thing but not to drill glass. But to drill some metal. Once he left the sun roof open on his 280Z and it rained and flooded the floor. So to get the water out he shot a hole in the bottom with his .41mag and then just welded a patch.
