Hey guys!  I have been looking at lots of ways to make formicariums, (3D printing, acrylic, firebrick, AAC) and may have a design picked out!  It will be a relatively small formicarium, the glass top being 6x4 inches.  I am planning on making it out of firebrick, and then paint the outside with all natural non toxic paint so that the water will stay in the nest longer.  It will have a removable acrylic top with magnets.  The materials will take a lot of money unfortanately, but I am thinking of a $30 usd price for one.  What do you guys think?  Would you consider purchasing?

NOTE:  I am not looking to make a profit, only to be able to put money towards more anting equipment.  :D

i would try to get some system of hydration in there, as firebrick is known for making water 'disappear' into thin air. if that was in place, i would definitely consider buying.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8

I couldn't decide to put a sponge in there or not, but I have now heard multiple people suggest that.  I will add that for sure. :)

Perfect the design and raise healthy colonies in them before thinking about sales.

Yes, I am just gathering ideas before I start working on a prototype. :)
