1. that looks like something on the glass to me.

2.probably looking for the most snug area. that must be the area they like the most.

They are normally towards the back. Also it's not on the glass.

I'm pretty sure that it is normal for that to happen. It is caused when the ant is becoming a replete or drinks a lot of liquid.

It's not on the glass. I believe that is one of her organs, possibly the one that stores sperm long term.

Made this liquid feeder for them. Should be safe. It's just glass with an aluminium lid but I'm cautious so I'm testing it on other ants. Let me know if there's any reason I shouldn't use it.
Made it after I bought these containers and then saw this https://www.formicul...old#entry158663

Where did you get these little glass things from? I want to make some.

Don't mess with pots. Gave them 2 fruit flies and one fell into the nest. It didn't go well for the fruit fly. Those pots descended on the poor fly like a pack of vicious wolves. Once they bit, they didn't let go. The fruit fly was in a worker's jaws in less than a minute. Keep in mind these are nanitics still. They are by far the best hunters I own.

that's crazy, i know by watching ant keepers like paul juhl they usually either stay inside the nest and take them down once they come inside or they all flood out the nest and murder everything.

Also could you provide a link for the little bottles please.

Yeah! How often and how much protein do you feed? I've been feeding more fruit flies and I think that's why I got an egg.

Oh wow. I have been underfeeding protein then. I was under the impression they mostly ate sugar.

they do, but if you want the growth to explode, feed more protein. there is nothing wrong with over feeding. they will just ignore whatever they do not want.

80% of their diet IS sugar, but overfeeding them fruit flies will be fine as Ants_Dakota said, they will ignore what they don't want, and may come back to eat it later.

I feed mine 2-3 times a week. Last week I sort of dumped a buncha fruit flies in their outworld and let them take what they want.

I feed all my ants protein every single day. If they don't eat it, I take it out. Fat ants are happy ants.

if only i had that kind of time for my ants(and the money) i would have massive ant colonies!

In a battle against a fruit fly the smallest worker, probably the first, was injured. The antennae looks like its not cut but is somehow sticking out of her mouth. She can't seem to fix it and seems distraught.  :(
