Just a fun idea I thought would be cool. What do you think of a Would you Rather for antkeeping?

These are some basic questions that I thought off the top of my head.

what if you don't have leaf cutters where you live?


1X Pogonomyrmex occidentalis 40-50 Workers

1X Solenopsis molesta 10 Workers (mono)

Ants I Want: Crematogaster sp, Camponotus Sp., Ponera Pennsylvanica, Mymercocystus sp.

what if you don't have leaf cutters where you live?

I think it's a rhetorical question.  Like if you could just pick one.  Not many people on here live in Central/South America.  :)

I picked leaf cutters because there's still a chance that I could have a successful honey-pot colony because we have those here.

I picked leaf cutters because there's still a chance that I could have a successful honey-pot colony because we have those here.

I also picked leaf cutters because of that same reason.  I also think that leaf cutters are just generally cooler, I love their behavior.  :)

Well, proper leaf-cutters would become extremely hard to manage at a mature colony size, so that's why I picked honeypots. Of course, I would rather have weaver ants of some sort over the both of them though.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
