As a sling, give them around 3-4 inches of substrate to dig in. It doesn't matter if the top substrate is dry or wet but make sure that the bottom layers are. When it gets older, when you water it, keep half of the environment dry and the other damp.

Oh and DO NOT get a habitat from petco. Buy one of the amac boxes, much cheaper and it won't kill your T.

Aphaenogaster cf. rudis

Tetramorium immigrans

Tapinoma sessile

Formica subsericea

Pheidole sp.

Camponotus nearcticus

Amac boxes. You can buy them at the container store. Super cheap and PERFECT for tarantula slings (and dwarf tarantulas)

As general advice, don’t abbreviate words until everyone knows what you’re referring to.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

I want a pumpkin patch so badly. Right now my only living T’s are a Tliltocatl (ex. Brachypelma) albopilosum (Nicaraguan curly hair) and a Grammastola pulchripes (Chaco golden knee). I used to have various Avicularia species (Pink toes), a Chilobrachys huahini (Asian fawn) and my favorite, a Ceratogyrus darlingi (Rear horned baboon).

Try undergroundreptiles for the small version of the t and try fearnottarantulas for the large version of the t I recommend underground reptiles even though it’s small because their shipping is cheaper for overnight shipping and they give a warranty for the shipping. But they only sell the sling version of it I’m pretty sure.

Hey antsmaryland if you read this again I have a vial form tarheelants I wanted to use for the sling, I’ll poke some small holes in the side for airflow since it’s a burrower and around 75% of the vial will have coco fiber in it is that ok?

Would you recommend Underground Reptiles? I can’t find reviews on their website.

That’s a great setup for 99% of terrestrial slings so your probably good.

I will probably order a sling from there next week and when I do I will tell you how it goes. And thank you I’ll probably use a vial for about 4 months then switch every now and then.
