Well maybe its time to officially introduce myself!

Name is... Call me Derka :)

I am a gamer, media for the Hive Gaming Community, Captain for a VR Esports Team, Fishermen, Christian, lover of nature, movies, History, shows, and now Ant Keeping!

So one day I started playing a game called Grounded where you get shrunk and get to play like you are from the movie,"Honey I shrunk the Kids." and you know a survival game. Then while doing things outside I looked down and realized there was life down there. I was curious... and you know what happens when curiosity crosses paths with this cat... no I don't die.. lol

Anyway back to the tale of how I got into Ant Keeping. I found a video on YouTube about a mantis that was a mimic of a wasp. I was hooked for some odd reason.

Here is that video if you want to see what I mean.

Then I fell into a rabbit hole which led me to AC. (I know the debate is rough here, so that is all I'll say about that)

As I watched more I was hooked! I wanted to commit to raising ants, keeping them not only as pets, but to understand them and learn from them.  One day after work I took Cherry out. (Our dog at home) and as I was returning I spotted a crematogaster Queen on the corner of my eye. I yelled at the dog to get inside so I could grab a test tube I just got the day before. lol Caught her and 3 others that day. Then a few days later I caught like 9 more Lasius Neoniger Queens in my backyard. Here is where the podcast comes in! Yeah I forgot to mention that. I love to listen and record podcasts, I have a few others and one is still going. While I am at work I can't really watch Youtube videos and if I try to download or listen its really bad wifi inside so I was like there has to be a Ant Keeping podcast.... well there was. It is called Ant Keeping 1 of a kid in the UK, I think and 3 min episodes on different species. That didn't fill my need to know more about those adorable bugs that I just caught! So I thought about it and thanks to you all I started a podcast called FormiCast!  All info is in the General topic area. Where I can get the info I wanted out for you all! With help from other Ant Keepers and Content Creators! (Hmu, we can set up some times to record)  So there, I have introduced myself!

I think FormiCast is something that will be one of the great things made for antkeeping. Also I would like to 'officially' welcome you to the forum!

Welcome! I’m looking forward to the podcast, and I’d be glad to contribute if you need it. I know a thing or two about Crematogaster.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.
