1. Ramona, CA.
2. 7/18//2020.
3. Desert sand, grass, shrubs.
4. 9 mm.
5. Red brown all around.
6. No major workers, monomorphic colonies.
7. Move with moderate speed.
8. No mounds at entrance, just holes.

9. 7 P.M.

Species guess, but without certainty: Pogonomyrmex, but deciding whether it is a californicus or a subnitidus. The previous ID request turned out to be subnitidus due to spines on the mesosoma (Thank you NickAnter and gcsnelling), and were collected in Carlsbad, but these 3 queens were collected in Ramona, CA, and do not have a spine. What does that leave me with?

*Correction: I compared a subnitidus queen with a spine to a queen without a spine, and all three do not have a spine. It is safe to rule out subnitidus.

All three do not have a spine that subnitidus queens have. What does that leave me with?

I’m not great at these but it could be Pogonomyrmex Maricopa or Pogonomyrmex tenuispinus

Yeah, I was afraid it could be maricopa as well.
