First thing, please don’t kill each other in an argument about exotics. That’s not what this thread is about, I know that happens a lot when talking about exotics here.

So, what is your favorite exotic ant / ants that you wish you could keep?

My top 4 list:
Atta spp.
African Honeypot spp.
Asian Odontomachus spp.
Myrmecia spp.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I would love to keep some Odontomachus ants if they were native to where I live.

Currently keeping Tetramorium Immigrans and Camponotus Pennsylvanicus in THA mini hearths.  I also have a couple Prenolepis Imparus queens in test tubes.

Mine is actually harvester ants because when I first started abt keeping messor was the only ant I really saw cause I would watch robjs ants and novo ants stuff like that. So when I found out Pogonomyrmex was one that shipped and it was a harvester ant I decided to get me a p occidentalis queen from THA and it should be here soon I got a set up and everything. Edit I guess it’s exotic as we have have no harvester ants in va but now we kinda do.

Edited by KitsAntVa, August 7 2020 - 7:17 AM.

We don’t talk about that
