This actually answers a bunch of questions I was gonna ask about it XD

 

Personally I am not good at all with meeting people, Online sure no problem, in person, boy am I gonna need to work up courage... Personally I would rather post them in the same way I got one of mine posted to me, on a flat piece of card, with brown tape to stop the test tube rolling about and padding to help keep it safe, They got to me in perfectly fine condition which I was honestly pretty chuffed with. I understand the less stress by being hand delivered, but like I mentioned, i'm just not good with that sorta thing XD

 

Also what is THA? I have seen it mentioned a few times before.

I meant the THA cult yeah GAN is worldwide, its something I might go to do further down the line, This is my first year keeping ants, so rather see how that goes first XD

I've been selling on GAN and Formiculture for some time now, so I guess I'll give my two cents on the topic. If you compare GAN pricing with that of other ant marketplaces, you may realize that the pricing on GAN for some species is a bit steeper. This is because on average, the clientele on GAN is mostly people who are just starting the hobby. While my experience with GAN has been almost exclusively positive, the customer support aspect of selling is much more demanding overall from GAN customers compared to, say the people that you would sell to through formiculture. This is most likely because the average active user of this forum is somewhat more experienced than the average first-time GAN buyer. Both formiculture and GAN are great ways to sell in my opinion though, and in both platforms you will generally have a positive experience. The biggest difference is, from what I have seen, how far along in the hobby journey clients are.

I wouldn't consider this forums somewhat preference for THA, a cult. While we like them and recommend them we've also been critical of them and understand they're not the best and only option for all ants.

Today I was going anting and found a massive pogonomyrmex occidentalis ant hill that had hundreds of drones and queens getting ready to take off for their nuptial flight and captured six queens that are hopefully all fertile.  I only need to keep one, and don't really need any others so one of my options is the GAN project.  I wanted to see what experiences you guys have had with the GAN project and if you recommend it.  

I personally like the GAN project it's where I got my Camponotus from I think it's pretty good.

Good point. I made $100 dollars on a Tetramorium queen with nanitics. The parent paid me double out of generosity. Cha ching!

Good point, I also don't sell my ants too cheap (about 45$ for a small Camponotus colony) since money=more accountability, and even if the child kills the colony the money you made will allow for even better care for your other colonies. I always liked selling more to young adults, since they always knew what they were doing. Parents of small children always asked questions about what they ate, how to care ect. info they can easily find online, and a short GAN meeting is not enough time to explain it all.

I sold some T. immigrans for $50, and the parent gave me another $50. I wasn’t above taking that.

I agree that anyone on here has the knowledge to take care of their ants. About a week or two ago, bugmomma which lives in VA bought a crematogaster colony from me but she was buying it for her son that had made sure to look up care for them and everything else, I believe they would do well because she said she kept praying mantis which if you keep insects you might as well be prepared to keep other types to.

I really hope they do well. I sent her some advice, too, but I never heard back from her. Research and a bit of common sense goes a long way. Common sense ain’t that common, though.

The nest she has should be great for them though also, it has a pretty big outworld, also when she bought them from me I didn't move them out of their nest which was a custom one from THA for crematogaster, It was really nice to.
