I have 2 camponotus herculeanus colonies that I caught in 2019. I pulled them out of diapause in late March of this year, and both colonies got to work. They both have 10-12 workers and one colony was up to ~30 larvae and the other was at ~12ish by late April. Then, they both just stopped developing. Where before they ate the mealworms and chicken I offered, they now leave them alone. They will drink some sugar water I give them, rarely, but that is it. For 2.5 months now, there have been no new eggs and none of the larvae have pupated. My home is ~70 degrees F. I had both colonies on a heater wire, but they go as far away from it as possible currently, so I only put them on it rarely. About 1/5 times the colony with fewer larvae will have 3-4 larva on the heater wire, but move them quickly afterwords. They are both hydrated adequately. I am aware that camponotus herculeanus is very slow growing, but 2.5 months of ignoring protein and keeping larva at that stage seems off kilter to me. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you!
