Alright. We got nanitics...my first ever nanitics...We fed the nanitics (Lil cooked egg yolk and sugar water, until I can get some insects tomorrow) Workers visually went and fed the queen which was super cool to see. They need a new test tube as their water is drying up so I provided that and hopefully they will make the move.

Just harassed them for far too long. Pics to follow hopefully soon.

Well the queen is dead. Not sure how, but that was a quick run. Have a bunch of founding colonies so will be trying again soon. Are eggs not generally safe to feed them?

The workers enjoyed the mealworm I gave them today at least.

Eggs are fine but ants do best when fed insects.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the egg. Queens just randomly die sometimes. Bad genetics, I’d say. Plenty more queens out there, so don’t lose heart.

Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

I agree. In captivity, queens with terrible genetics are given a chance they never would’ve possibly gotten in the wild.
