I've been intrigued by the question of how did this weird larvae/pupae/adult life cycle develop in the first place.

I didn't know the first insects used to hatch the way crickets do now, as miniature adults.

Neat! Quick question, so when metamorphisis developed, what about coccoon vs non coccoon? I know ants that spin coccoons have the same pupae as ants that do spin coccoons, just with silk. but what about insects that make coccoons which they exit out of, or insects that peel off their "naked pupae?"
