So I bought some small acrylic boxes to use as starter outworlds for my many new tetramorium colonies and Camponotus colonies. I’m in the process of drilling/sanding holes in the acrylic for their test tubes and tubing (for when I want to move them later). The holes for their test tubes are pretty close to exact size, and I’m not worried about the Camponotus, but the tetramorium are so tiny that I’m sure they can squeez through some of the cracks that there will be between the acrylic hole and test tube. I was thinking of sealing the test tube in with play dough but I heard that it’s not healthy for ants. Any ideas on how I can close these cracks up? Also I have fluon for the barrier so I’m not worried about that part.

You can rip little bits of cotton, and put those bits in the gaps for a nice snug fit. I do that for my Pheidole Californica colony, it works fine.
My Ants:
(x1) Campontous semitstaceus ~20 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Camponotus vicinus ~10 workers, 1 Queen (all black variety)
(x1) Tetramorium immigrans ~100 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Myrmercocystus mexicanus -1 Queen
(x2) Mymercocystus mimcus -1 Queen
(x1) Mymercocystus testaceus ~45 workers, 1 Queen

I generally use cotton for temporary set ups.

For permanent crack-filling, I think I heard somewhere about using plain old non-toxic white glue.

Not sure how long it'll last but could be worth a shot.
