hi,i have F.fusca and F.cinerea they have al a plaster nest with a watertower like tarheel.i saw that they don't use the water towers,they throw dirt on the water tower.why they do that?

Keep in mind that the water towers aren’t for drinking, so ants don’t necessarily “use” them. They are for maintaining humidity. Plus, ants always do the opposite of what you want them to (they’re version of Murphy’s law= Myrmy’s law).

yeah i know.i mean they don't lay the larvae and pupea on the water tower.

yeah i know.i mean they don't lay the larvae and pupea on the water tower.

 

You shouldn't worry too much about that, the ants usually know what's best for the brood.
