I am pretty excited as these Pogonomyrmex were from the first real flight that I have experienced. I posted pics in the ID thread and people said that this was most likely pogonomyrmex subnitidus. I have quite a few of these colonies currently in test tubes with dirt and seeds, and most of them have a small clutch of eggs. Their ID is being discussed on the server, and I hope to get a definite ID soon. After I finish building an incubator, I will take my founding queen sets off the market and attempt raising them to colonies, so with luck, they will have workers by August/September.

So far they have been friendly, and I was even able to successfully introduce another queen after eggs were laid. Because they are lower-elevation, I suspect that they are more likely to be pleometric, but I have no way of knowing for sure until later.

I went to daiso and found really nice containers for V2 setups, so I made a few. So far I've only put my 5-queen personal colony in one, and they seem to be pretty happy.

I had another massive flight in my area, and I'm selling queens as sets on my sales page. 

 

Since I was bored I decided to try boosting workers from established colonies, after a brief chilling, they don't seem to be that aggressive, and whenever a worker bites down on the queen I put them back in the fridge for a few minutes. I put these boosted workers and queen into a basic set-up, copies of which will be sold on my sales page as a Pogonomyrmex starter kit, complete with ultracal layer, outworld, glass 20*150 mm test tube, seeds, and sand.

Very Fine quartz sand.

Subnitidus don't need sand to found anyways.
