I got one of these for Christmas when it was on sale. Now that I have been on the forums for a while I realized most people don't like AC or his products. Should I keep the nest or sell it and save for tarheels nest?

No reason to sell it, it could work for Tetramorium or something. But yes, definitely buy THA.

I have a Tetramorium nest, yet I have no idea what I’m going to do with my Formica nest.

Uh... Maybe put a Formica colony in it?

Jk, don't do that. They spray too much acid.

Unless you have too much stuff, I would hold on to it. No reason to sell something at a loss to spend more on something that does the same thing. In my opinion AC products aren't horrible, they just aren't the best and they support his clickbaity youtube. lol

You're going to sell it because 'most people don't like AC or his products'? That's an odd reason to me. To each his/her own I s'pose.

No I would considering selling it because people seem to find them inferior or not proper set ups.

I always keep my old formicariums and even my AC formicariums. I just can't part with them. I even still have some uncle Milton farms i need to get rid of or modify. Like Canadant said, just because someone doesn't like it, doesn't make it bad.

Hybrid nests just aren't that useful unless you have a really large, explosive colony. I'm sure they work great if you do truly need one, but for most ants, you won't need anything bigger than a THA fortress for a few years.

An AC hybrid nest is definitely an adequate formicarium. While definitely not the best on the market, if you already have one, there's no reason to get rid of it. The main issue I have with the hybrid nest is that while they appeal to newer antkeepers mostly, they are absolutely massive. A newbie trying to move their Camponotus colony with nanitics into a whole hybrid nest isn't exactly what we like to see in the hobby, and so we normally encourage newer keepers to stay away from AC's products. However, if you actually have a colony that will fit in one of the hybrid nests, there's no reason not to use one. The build quality is fine, they work pretty well and offer a decent amount of space for the price point. I'll never tell anyone to buy AC over THA or even Aus Ants, but it's not like hybrid nests will instantly kill your ants as soon as you move them into one.

I caught a small Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony with 150ish workers, and even they are still a little small for a Fortress.

AC never worked for me. Which is why I sold mine. My ants just never liked it for some reason, but with THA I’ve never had any issue as far as ants liking it. But I am certain some ants will settle in an AC habitat. I’d say keep it for now.
