I don't think anybody from Louisiana is selling right now, but try looking for Tetramorium, they are a good beginner species.

Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, ~~Brachymyrmex sp.~~ possibly infertile , Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: ~~Pheidole morrisii~~

I know this isn't a "beginner" species, but if you want an ant that is very forgiving to mistakes and hard to accidentally kill, then go for solenopsis invicta. You can find them virtually anywhere and they fly all year.
