So, I forgot where to post a picture of the Fire ant queen I found up here in Springfield, VA but here's the picture for proof:97980046_692779238214518_485345132095209

I kept her for a bit, she developed workers and then I put her in the freezer and reported it and sent in the samples.

Where did you send the samples?

I gave it to a friend who works at the National History museum. He gave it to the USDA somehow, didn't explain how. (I contacted the USDA and told them where, how, Fertility[in this case fertile], and who I gave it to)

Winters where we get to single digit lows must severely limit them. We were nowhere near that this “winter” though.

Solenopsis invicta have been found in Virginia and even Maryland several times over the last years. I've found articles from 2008 mentioning local infestations in Virginia.

Delaware had an incident where some were found hitchhiking in plant pots but they got exterminated (hopefully they didn't miss any in other shipments).

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.
